Extra information:
Celadon-inspired finishes were popular during the late Victorian and Edwardian periods. The fine crazing
visible across the glaze surface developed naturally over time through age and firing stresses & is
commonly encountered on decorative art pottery & tablewares of the period. The flowing division between the cream body and translucent green glaze suggests the fragments may derive from a moulded decorative
art pottery bowl. Their recovery alongside other Victorian-period finds in a Suffolk coastal context supports a probable late 19th- to early 20th-century origin.
