Blue and white ceramics have been produced in China for many centuries. In the early 19th century, the style inspired a production movement in England. Influential artists like James McNeill Whistler collected these ceramics. The growing middle class also collected the patterns to demonstrate their cultural tastes, and the colour of blue and white china was a welcome addition to the typically dark Victorian interior.

The findings on these earrings are Stainless Steel and the piece of pottery is coated in resin for protection and preservation.
