Extra Information:

This charming blue glass bead is a beautifully weathered example of early mass-produced Victorian/early 20th-century decorative glasswork. Measuring approximately icm in diameter and around 6mm deep, the bead has a rounded, button-like form with faceted edges created to reflect light and add sparkle when worn.

Glass beads of this type were commonly used in jewellery, clothing trims, handbags, and decorative home items during the 1800s and early 1900s. Their bold colours and crisp faceting made them both affordable and eye-catching, popular across all social classes.

Lost long ago, this bead has since been naturally frosted and softened by time underground, giving it a gentle, matte patina unique to aged glass. Now set as a pendant, it carries with it a small but beautiful piece of Colchester's everyday history-revived and ready to be worn again.
