Extra Information:
This beautiful swirled green glass marble pendant began its life as a children's toy, later lost to time and eventually rediscovered in Colchester. Marbles like this were mass-produced from the late 1800s onwards, as glassmaking techniques improved and bright, colourful toys became more affordable to ordinary families.
The vivid green colour and swirling internal pattern suggest an early machine-made marble, created by heating coloured glass canes and cutting them into perfect spheres. These marbles were treasured by children for games such as ring taw, boss out, and keepsies, and many were lost outdoors-only to be uncovered generations later.
Over time, this marble was naturally weathered and smoothea, giving it the distinctive patina of an object that has spent decades in the soil. It has now been transformed into a unique pendant, allowing a small piece of childhood history to be worn and appreciated once again.
