1890 Victorian Jubilee Pendant
Threepences, just like this one, were commonly kept as good-luck charms or drilled and worn as love tokens, especially during the Victorian era when small silver coins were often carried for protection, remembrance, or affection.
This 1890 coin shows the classic design used between 1887 and 1892. On one side, Queen Victoria looks outward with the dignity and resolve of her Jubilee years. On the reverse, the crowned “3” sits within a delicate wreath of oak and laurel, the date 1890 nestled proudly beneath. Together they frame both the public and private world of the Victorian era.
Victorian superstition held that silver carried good luck, especially when worn close to the skin. A threepence worn as a pendant wasn’t just jewellery — it was a quiet promise, a charm against misfortune, a reminder of someone waiting at home.
