Blue & white ceramics have been produced in China for many years. In the early 19th century, the style inspired a production movement in Bngland. Influential artists Hike James McNeill Whistler collected these ceramics. The growing middle class also collected the patterns to demonstrate their cultural tastes, & the colour of the Blue & White China was a welcome addition to the typically dark Victorian interior.
